The "Clos de la Croix",
charming historic residence
It is in a former "Hotel Particulier" from the 18th century (1752) that we have the pleasure of welcoming you. Numerous in the 17th & 18th century in Bayeux, these bourgeois houses housed the nobility and the bourgeoisie who prospered and celebrated.
This charming residence has travelled through the centuries, whilst retaining its authenticity and period features: woodwork, mirrors, parquet floors, marble or stone fireplaces, stone staircase, wrought iron banister, piers, alcoves, stone floors, etc.
Sheltered behind a carriage entrance and enclosed by high walls, the residence is peaceful and invites you to go back in time. After crossing its porch, you will enter a paved courtyard. You will access the rooms by a two-tone stone staircase, with its wrought iron banister.
On the ground floor, the breakfast room, decorated in Napoleon III style, with its cabinet of curiosities, will allow you to have lunch while enjoying the direct view of the main courtyard and its pleasure garden.
On the first floor, you can relax in the music room, a former bridal chamber.
Enclosed by walls, the private mansion "le Clos de la Croix" also has a park planted with rose bushes, lime trees, wisteria, magnolia, palm trees (from the last universal exhibition in Paris). Different green rooms will bring you calm and discretion, with a view of the cathedral or the church of St Laurent.
Adjacent to the garden, free public parking is at your disposal. We also provide our cycling friends with a secure bicycle garage.
The old owner has many steps and stairs. It is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
